Brighton Marina from 2,000 feet can be seen to occupy a spectacular location between the Grade I listed Regency masterpieces of Lewes Crescent and Sussex Square, and the South Downs National Park. Much of the Marina is already fully developed, with flats, shops, restaurants and moorings. It is a popular destination for marine leisure activities, including boating and sea fishing.
The western end needs radical improvement. Demolition of the ugly pre-fabricated grey hangars and the user-hostile multi-storey car-park would be a good start. This end of the Marina could then be rebuilt harmoniously, with concealed car-parking, low-rise housing and recreational space. Savebrighton has been campaigning for this kind of future for Brighton Marina.
